Dr. Mallory Young grew up in Oregon, USA and moved to Australia in 2010. She began her Suzuki violin studies at age nine and played in the Portland Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Metropolitan Youth Symphony and was concert mistress of her high school orchestra. She participated in various recitals, competitions, Suzuki camps, and master classes, and performed at weddings, parties, talent shows, and festivals.
Mallory continued her musical education through university at Hendrix College, USA, where she performed as a soloist and as part of a chamber group. After completing Book 10 Suzuki and participating in a Suzuki Training Course at the University of Guanajuato, Mexico, she began teaching violin at age 20. In 2010 she moved to Australia to complete a PhD in Earth Sciences at the Australian National University. She moved to Perth four years later for a job in the Oil & Gas industry, but continued teaching violin on weekends. She soon realized, however, that her true passion was music and quit her office job to focus solely on studying and teaching the violin.
